BIS kids enjoy visit to new Toy Library

Three cheers for the new toy library! Children from BIS (foreground) and Baan Bangkhu School celebrate getting to know each other.
About 60 grade-1 children from the British International School (BIS) recently visited the new Toy Library set up by Phuket Community Foundation (PCF) at Baan Bangkhu School, just down the road from their own school, and donated some of their own toys to the new library.
The children visited in three groups, on the mornings of March 16 to 18, the aim of the visits being to teach them to share and to give to less privileged kids.
Isabel Ford, Year 1 teacher at BIS, said that her pupils very much enjoyed spending time with the Baan Bangkhu students. It was delightful, she added, to see all the children making new friends by playing together.
“Coming from privileged backgrounds, the BIS students have a lots of toys, so it’s very good for them to see that they can help the Baan Bangkhu school children by sharing some of their own toys. It’s very good experience for them to see how it helps and I think all our children here will really love to continue bringing something to share with these children in the future.”
Thanking the children for their donations, the director of Baan Bangkhu School, Niyom Promkhunthong, added that children at his school are very happy and excited about the toy library.
“They wait every day to play in the toy library. Now they are very keen to come to the library. It makes the room livelier; children can play with the toys if they get bored with reading books.
“The school would also like to announce to the public that we would be happy to receive further donations of toys for our library. People can donate them directly to us, or through the PCF,” he said. “They can also donate toys for the PCF’s next toy library.”
Baan Bangkhu School is on the west side of Thepkrassatri road, just past the entrance to the Boat Lagoon marina. To donate toys via, or to the PCF, call the director, Janyaporn Morel, at 08 1851 2280 or email her.
