PCF launches Race Day to the public

PCF people with some of our wonderful sponsors.

The PCF publicly launched Race Day with a Launch Presentation and press conference today at the Blue Elephant Restaurant in Phuket Town.

We were delighted with the turnout – around 100 local journalists and sponsors came to see what Race Day is all about.

It also gave us the chance to introduce the lovely Esmeralda of the Dream Gallery, who has pledged B250,000 as name sponsor of the Great Phuket Rubber Duck Race. We also dragged onstage Grace Wilton, who’s done an absolutely stunning job of convincing sponsors to back our big event. So far we’ve secured 27 sponsors – and Grace has her eye on lots more. If you want to contribute, contact her by email to

We also had the magical Joe Conrad up on his feet, producing eggs out of nowhere, and even a rubber duck out of thin air. Joe will be doing a big show at Race Day.

Also adding lustre to the event were members of the Phuket Classic Car Club, who brought along four of their beautifully restored cars. They and seven of their friends will be giving rides at Race Day. In counterpoint, there was a beautiful new BMW parked out front, too.

Look out for a burst of news about PCF Race Day in the local press, on TV and on web sites.

Over the coming few days we’ll be rolling out our duck sales network with 40 or so outlets across the island where you can buy tickets for the  Dream Gallery Great Phuket Rubber Duck Race. STUNNING prizes. Take a look here and then go buy your ducks. You can also get your duck numbers online in the same page.

We also need more people to join in our races. Put together a dragon boat team or a kayak crew, or build your own raft for the raft race. For kids, there’s the hilarious cardboard box race. Not to be missed!! Go here to see how to enter.

And don’t forget – put the date in your diary, on your computer calendar and in your phone now: January 23, 2011. Race Day!!

Here are some pictures from the Launch Presentation.

The best part is, you can race too!

And at the same time you’ll be helping us to raise funds for grants towards worthwhile projects that will make Phuket an even better place than it is now.
