Long-time Phuket resident Tom Fekete visited the Phuket Community Foundation offices recently to pick up the prize he won in the Phuket Gazette‘s online “Do You Know?” competition.

The competition featured a picture of the PCF’s 2009 Rubber Duck Race, with the question, “What is this?” Tom was the first to leap onto his keyboard and give the right answer.

As a result he received 10 tickets to back ducks in the 2011 Dream Gallery Great Phuket Rubber Duck Race, which takes place on January 23, 2011, at Laguna Phuket, as part of the PCF’s fabulous Race Day.

The PCF is delighted to announce that, on the advice of experts, we have found a way to solve a niggling worry about prize winners in the Dream Gallery Great Phuket Rubber Duck Race 2011 having to pay tax on the value of their prizes.

No tax will be payable, so if you have already bought tickets and were wondering  about the line that said “IMPORTANT: Winners of prizes valued at 1,000 baht or more are required by law to pay tax equivalent etc etc”, you can now ignore it. Get a big black felt pen and draw a line through it.

Whew.
